Takanobu Ito - A Biography
Takanobu Ito, a Japanese engineer and senior member of the board of directors of Honda Motor Co., was unexpectedly announced to step down from his position as president of the company.
Born on August 29, 1953, in Tokyo, Japan, Ito graduated from Kyoto University. In April 1978, he joined Honda Motor Co. as a chassis engineer. Ito became the executive vice president of Honda R&D in 1998. In April 2009, he was appointed as the president and director of Honda R&D Co., Ltd.
From June 2009, Ito served as the president, chief executive officer, and representative director of Honda Motor Co.
