    Frank Ticheli

    American composer (born 1958)

    Frank Ticheli (tih-KEL-ee;[1] born January 21, 1958) is an American composer of orchestral, choral, chamber, and concert band works.

    He lives in Los Angeles, California, where he is a Professor Emeritus of Composition at the University of Southern California.[2] He was the Pacific Symphony's composer-in-residence from 1991 to 1998, composing numerous works for that orchestra.

    Biography

    Ticheli was born in Monroe, Louisiana. He graduated from L.V. Berkner High School in Richardson, Texas and earned a Bachelor of Music in Composition and Music Education from Southern Methodist University,[3] where he studied with Donald Erb and Jack Waldenmaier.

    He went on to receive his master's and doctoral degrees in composition from the University of Michigan, where he studied with William Albright, Leslie Bassett, George Wilson, and William
